how do you stop a donkey from biting at your clothing?

Answers:
Two reasons he might be nibbling-
to get food from you
to play with you.

DON'T feed it carrots from your hand! He will think you are a mobile food van, and will try and find food on you (by biting).

Just like a dog that nibbles his owner- it's not acceptable. Push him away when he bites your clothing. Tell him "no". I don't think that smacking does very much, but if you show him that if he wants to stand with you he has to be nice, eventually he'll get the message. Make him take a couple of steps back every time he bites, and he'll soon learn that biting = work, and he'll stop.

Good luck
I would guess taking it off would discourage it
god lord be careful why be that close to it you could get hurt wear tight clothes i guess its just a silly habit it picked up i guess
give it carrots when you are around it. and a quick smack on the nose
A lot of people don't understand eqidae social structure. They are not the cute little creatures you think they are.
At times, these animals world becomes quite violent. Any breach of protocol can result in severe discipline from other members of the herd( I have known of donkeys killing each other)
First, stop feeding this donkey treats. Second, do what ever it takes to have this critter recognize YOUR space. Third work with him to give him some sort of job, lungeing, hip release drills, any physical exercise will do. Ever see horses chase each other from a good grazing spot? Same Idea, only you are declaring authority.
Good discipline leads to a relaxed relationship, I have been correcting problems in horses, mules and donkies for 25 years. And have developed a lot of insight into equidae behavior, good luck.
go naked
ha ha! good luck with that one.

whatever you do, don't hit it because it will make a game out of it: 'missed me! watch this, i'll bite you again and you won't be able to do anything about it!!' he'll win that one of strength and speed.
so, outsmart 'im! when he goes to bite you clothing, just do jumping jacks without looking at him. or move you arm towards him as if you're yawning. just make him think you've got a second sense about these things because you do it all BEFORE he can nip you. and don't get mad, he'll go, 'oh goody! another point for me, i made that human distracted!' it'll take persistance and patience, but he'll leave you alone eventually. you just have to have the right timing. pretty soon he'll go, 'well, everytime i try to get in that human's space, he does something that bothers me, but he doesn't seem to notice i'm there. hmph, i guess i should just stop bugging him all together, considering it's not fun any more.' it might take a few weeks for him to realize that, but it's the only efficient way to make him stop biting you.

think of it this way - you're the outcast who can't speak their language. so, what would they do? pick on you of course. they all say, 'check this out!' then start nibbling on you so they can watch you get frustrated. but, if the stranger would just smile, act as if they're not there, do something annoying, and stop giving them satisfaction, they'd lose interest very quickly.

good luck and keep smiling!
Is the donkey a stallion or guilding. I dont like having it done but if correctly drug to put under then would be fine. He might be demanding trying to make you under him or his way of being funny. physical training want help a donkey is smart and taking his time to understand nor will it help a horse because horse training is repeatious
