how do you tame a baby hamster?
Answers:
By handling it regularly, just for a few seconds at first, then gradually increase the handling sessions.
Stroking the Hamster also helps it become familiar and at ease with human presence.
Once it feels that you're not a threat and stops being timid it will quickly become tame (and stop nipping your fingers!)
You need to hold it a lot so they get used to it.
awww do you have a baby hamster awww, sorry i dont know but theyre lovely animals any way and i spose yer you do need to hold it alot just like a cat and that like ..lol.

Yeah, Brens right..Plenty of handling should do the trick. Be careful though, they have sharp teeth.
Earn its trust. Hold it, hand feed it, maybe even just lay your hand down by it in the cage so it knows that you wont hurt it. Don't squeeze or fling him across the room.
Let them get used to your smell and voice. Handle him just a little bit at first and give the baby hamster some treats, so they can take food from your hand.
you don't tame hamsters you put them in the microwave makes great entertainment tee hee.
Use a tazar gun or mace either should do the job.
This might sound daft, but I am not joking .. put the plug in the bath and get in the bath (no water!) with the hamster loose and running around. It will get used to you but yet not be able to run off.
My kids had several hamsters when they were young, and we even had one lived to four and a half years old when 18 months to two years is meant to be the norm. The old hamster was such a poppet.
The bath method never fails! Good luck.
Let him/her get used to their new home, give it some time, put a piece of your used , shredded clothing in-they will probs use it for bedding ( will know your scent thru that!)When you want them out for handling, just open the cage,,let them take their own time coming out,but hav ur hand ready to be accepted.Don,t put your hand in their home at 1st(or ever, s/times)its their home turf----give them that respect!
p.s.,once tame they love getting brushed/combed(toothbrush is good).
p.p.s,Get the most adventurous cage u can afford,,,,very inquisitive little buggers.gd luk.x
If you have only just got him, leave him for a while in his cage on his own, he can then get used to the surroundings.
After a couple of days, stroke the hamster and let him get used to your scent and what people are like.
A couple of days after that, hold him for a few seconds and then put him back in the cage. And in future, you shall have a happy little hamster! Good Luck!
We have tamed our hamster by handling it lots (whenever it is active) and by rewarding it with seeds when it is on our hands. Our hamster will now happily hop in to our hands when we open the cage and will also come and find us when we shake its food box (great when she escapes!!).
Baby as in young hamster right? Because a hamster should not be touched by human skin before its a month old, or the mother would leave it alone and it would die.
Anyway, play with it everyday. Take note of when your hamster wakes up and is most active, and let the hamster crawl/climb all over your hands and arms. Once they get use to your scent they would be used to you. If the hamster bites, tap their forhead and say very loudly No *it worked for mine, really! I train all 6 of them this way* If the hamster didnt bite your throught out playtime, reward it with cheese or something it likes.
I don't think you will. you will be kind and gentle, so it can bite you easily, or you will think that you are making some progress, then it will die out of spite.
try a cat; at least he hamster will make a good meal for it.
Ham's are easy to tame, as long as you take the time to let them get used to you and your scent. Here's what I do (I have 14 ham's currently, all tame enough to hold except one, who was a "rescue" ham).
First, spend a few minutes several times a day letting your hand just sit on top of the cage. This brings your scent close enough for them to smell and get used to, without them getting worried or scared of a big hand coming at them. Do that for about 2 days.
Next, open the cage, make a fist, and put your hand into the cage slowly, where they can see it, with your fingers aimed down. This allows them to get used to a hand, but keeps your fingers out of harm's way in case they try to bite. Fingers are what tend to get bitten more often, and they can get a better grasp on the loose skin of a finger than on the top of a fisted hand. Do this for several minutes at a time for another day or two.
Lastly, put your hand in open, palm facing upward, making a loose "cup". Let them crawl into your hand. Do this for a few minutes at a time several times a day, until they are comfortable enough to crawl into your hand. Don't attempt to pick them up until they are crawling into your hand on their own. That shows that they trust you, and know you will not hurt them.
Try to do this in a quiet area, so nothing startles them while they get used to you. Talk to them softly while you do all the above, so they get used to hearing your voice, as well.
A claw hammer and a flame thrower should nail it.
handle it as much as you can .it may bite you but keep it up will soon be tame.//////////////////
Try to handle it daily from a young age. Give it little treats by hand so that it gets to feel that you are not a scary experience. Try not to pick the hamster up from above, as hamsters are instinctively scared of this as they are a prey animal. Don't take it out of it's bed, that should be a safe place for the hamster; also don't wake the hamster from sleep to play with it. Hamsters are noctural so they prefer to sleep during the day and active at night. They won't like being taken out of their cage during the day. Place the hamster gently back into it's cage after a while so that it associates your hand with being taken back to it's home.
To be honest, hamsters don't socialise particularly well with humans. Have you ever considered getting a pet rat? I know many people think they are horrible, but they actually make wonderful pets and can become very tame. They enjoy human company and love to be stroked and held, or perhaps ride on your shoulder.
Handling is the key
