I just got a little cute dwarf hamster, but whenever I try to hold it, it bites me. Thank you.

Chances are it's not used to being handled. The best thing is to start out my sticking your hand in the cage with it just so it can see it. Talk to it too so the hamster gets to know your voice. After a minute or two, offer it a treat (something on the big side just in case it tries to bite again, maybe one of the corn kernels from its food). It'll gradually associating your hand as a nice object and won't want to bite it. When you want to pick it up, don't put your hand over it palm down but rather palm up, or else it'll feel threatened. (a lot of animals have that instinct to bite or run when the hand is closing down over them) It will most likely sniff your hand at first, but it should walk on up if it feels comfortable enough. Then with your other hand, let it sniff that one too until it gets uninterested, then pet it a while. It won't be long before it fully trusts you then. =)
i love dwarf hamsters..theyre usually not like that maybe its not used to u and maybe u pick it up wen its sleeping? try pickin it up wen its awake and give it treats wen u do pick it up like sunflowers
You gotta keep picking it up , all the time you can so he gets you to you and your touch. but some rodents juz don't like to be picked up so if it looks like theres no end to his biting you might have to juz give up and enjoy juz looking at him! best of luck!
You probably have a female, they're more territorial and aggressive than the males. Try tapping on her nose every time she tries to bite you. She won't like that and she'll stop. Also get some hamster chew toys from the pet shop. Good luck!
Leave him alone for a couple of days. Then gradually let him sniff you first.

The more you handle it the more friendly it will become, you will have to put up with a few more bites though, it won't happen overnight! Good luck =)

I had hamsters quite a bit and I think that you just need to keep holding it. Just remember that they may never get used to it. I had quite a few hamsters that just did not like to be held..
