Because I now have had two hamsters killed because of either my dog or my cat. but the problem is, each time that a hamster gets killed, I don't ever see what happened! And then I get blamed! What should I do?
Answers:
keep them in a glass aquarium. I have found it to be the safest from my other pets. Or put them in a room that the other pets do not have access to. Good luck!
Keep the hamster in its cage - and make sure the top of the cage clamps or locks down to prevent the other pets getting in.
Also, if you see the cat or dog looking into the cage or pawing it, say "No!" in a strong, not loud voice and clap your hands. Never strike an animal, they don't understand it, and it is cruel.
What you should do is quit buying small animals!! Apparently your cat or dog is getting their paws through the cage or figuring out some other way to get them.
You ARE keeping your hamsters in their cages at all times, no?
If you're not, then there's your problem, right there--simple!
If the cats and dogs are knocking over the cages and getting at the hamsters, then you must keep the cats and dogs out of the rooms where the hamsters are all the time. No exceptions.
if you're not doing these things, then--sorry--it IS your fault.
Good luck with your next hamsters! Keep them safe!
r they dead inside the cage or out? did u find it with a pet is that why u know they did it? sounds like u maybe u should just stick with the cat %26 dog. hamsters r best for people who dont have other pets like that which can be their predators. if the cage is secure there is no reason the hamster wouldnt be safe from them. what kind of cage is it? really need more info to answer u properly.
keep it in a covered aquarium
I always blame the trolls.
What you could do is keep your dog and cat away from the hamster's cage by every time you leave your room close the door and don't leave your hamster's cage near ground level try to keep it somewhere high, you could also every time you play with your hamster put you dog and cat in there cage or outside to prevent them from seeing the hamster all the time that might tempt them.
