How do you get rid of mites on pet rats?

Going to the vet would be the best idea. My rats got mites and nothing I did would get rid of them but revolution which you can only get at the vet. Also try changing the type of bedding they are on. Carefresh is good at hiding the mites. Try a pellet bedding like SoftSorbent. Thats what I found was the best. I hope your little critters are better soon!

you need a special rat shampoo from the vet or petshop (it usually does bunnies, chinchillas and other rodents as well) then you shampoo it once a week. Ours always really liked bathtime and would happily play in the sink and then get cuddled up in a towel to dry off.

Lots and lots of cleaning, also a possible trip to the vet to determine the kinds of mites you are dealing with might be in order.
