we have 3 adult rabbits an a litter of babies willbe going in tom. since they are weaned the cage is 5ft long an 4ft wide an theres a wooden box built around the cage where they can also get in the back of it its 5 ft long an maybe 2.5 ft wide with hay etc tokeep them warm is this large enough?
Answers:
The rule of thumb is 1 sq. ft of cage space per pound of expected ADULT weight.they should really get 1.25-1.5 sq. ft. per pound if they're not allowed outside of their cage, so as to get the proper excercise. Larger rabbits need more space, mind you.
Your cage is 20 sq. ft. I'm not sure how large your rabbits are.but technically it could house five 4 lb rabbits or four 5 lb rabbits. If your rabbits are larger, obviously, you won't be able to house that many in together.
The nesting box is only 12.5 sq. ft. but is adequate since the rest of the cage is attached to it and it's only a portion of the cage (an area for sleeping, not for excercising).
This means you have, in total. 32.5 sq. ft. and can accomodate 32 lbs worth of rabbits in that.
Keep in mind that unaltered rabbits will fight over territory. So while technically you COULD house a lot of rabbits in a given space, it may prove to be difficult because the rabbits will probably fight. This is especially true of same-sex pairs being housed together. I wouldn't recommend keeping anymore in the same cage---3 adult rabbits sounds like the perfect number for your cage size.
Hope that helps.
HUGE because to have sex or maturbate! god i'm so horny!
Pretty big size. When I had rabbits, we had 5 and a mom and dad. The dad ate all of the baby's and the mom because I guess it was too small of space. Then our dog ate the dad. It was so sad.
Should be plenty big enough.when we raised them, we had two rabbits in a 3 x 3 x 3 foot cage and ours did just fine.
PS. Do NOT put males and females together unless you are mating them.bad things ensue..and when you do mate them, watch them.the male will sometimes get on the wrong end and the female will 'bite it off' if you know what I mean.seen it happen.
Oh that's plenty big my cage is like almost same size i am keeping a litter of 5 weeks that are weaning now (their is 7 babies and a lot of room!)
depends on the size of the rabbit bigger rabbit bigger cage
full grown 3x5 feet by 2 feet tall with sleeping quartes should keep him happy floor of chicken wire so his little turds can hit the ground cage should be off the ground 3-5 feet and a roof would also keep the weather off him
If you keep your bunns indoors with you, they'll really become attached to you. Have a read of these sites' recommendations for cage sizes and security -
